My name is Iraj Ghadiminejad and I am the inventor of ENDOR™ Cream. Prior to immigrating to Australia, I was a lecturer at the Imperial College, Medical School, University of London and worked in the Paediatrics Department at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. We immigrated to Australia in 1996 and I worked at the Westmead Hospital Institute of Allergy and Immunology and then as the Head of Renal Research at the Children’s Hospital in Westmead.

Whilst working at St Mary’s Hospital, I discovered a compound produced by the immune system of children, with an over active immune response to infections. These children were able to mount an excellent immune response to infections and clear the infection quicker than normal, but were unable to bring their immune response back to normal levels, once the infection was defeated. My research identified a compound produced by the immune system of these children, that essentially signals the overactive immune response to return to base line.

This is an important discovery, particularly because if you could bring the over active immune response back to normal, you could effectively treat autoimmunity, which is manifested in many forms: Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea, MS, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis and many more conditions.

I tried to get the Children’s Hospital interested in investing in my project to try and develop this product into a medicine for these conditions, but unfortunately that was not possible. I left the hospital and established a Biotech Company in order to develop my discovery. Unfortunately, due to the financial crisis of the late 1990s and in particular 2000 and due to lack of funding, we were unable to continue and I was forced to find an alternative job in order to make ends meet.

My attempts in finding a suitable job were very difficult, mainly because I have a varied background and did not fit into a specific category. The recruitment consultants that I was dealing with, could not fit me into a job criteria, so in 2001, I decided that this was an industry where there was an unmet requirement and decided to pursue a career in specialist recruitment; my aim was to provide a unique and tailor-made executive Search and Selection Recruitment Service for Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Medical Device Companies, as well as Healthcare, Research Institutions and Government bodies. Although I had a good network in the industry, I was not familiar with the processes associated with recruitment. I joined one of the largest recruitment companies in Australia, with a mandate to establish recruitment in the Medical & Scientific arena, adding to the firm’s recruitment arms, which did not include these areas.

In December 2002, I left Hamilton James and Bruce to run my own recruitment company and used my existing company: GNP Australia, to run my recruitment activities under this banner. Once I established the company and was able to meet my targets, I started to use any spare time and money that I had and with the help of friends at the Macquarie University, I was able to continue with my researching at the Chemistry Labs, trying to further develop this discovery.

In 2013 I had a breakthrough with my work, in that I was able to provide the basic ingredients of the active compound to the body and then the body converted them into the active compound. This was a crucial discovery for me. Until then, the major stumbling block had been the financial cost associated with the hugely expensive clinical trials, however, now using the body’s mechanism to produce the active compound, meant that we could go ahead and produce our topical product for the treatment of Eczema, Psoriasis and Rosacea. Following this discovery, ENDOR™ products started to be developed.
